The much‑loved Molesey Head Races return on Saturday 14 February 2026, bringing competitive rowing, riverside atmosphere and community spirit back to our stretch of the Thames. Established in 1976, the event has become a key date in the winter rowing calendar and a familiar highlight for Hurst Park residents.
A day of racing for all ages
The regatta features two headline events:
- Molesey Junior Head
- Molesey Veteran (Masters) Head
Junior divisions
Junior racing takes place at 10.00am and 12.00 noon, with crews competing over a c.3000m course from Sunbury Blue Doors to Hampton Ferry.
Boat classes include:
- 4x+, 4x-
- 4+, 4-
All boats race on the water and are split into two experience levels, helping to ensure fair and exciting competition.
Junior medal collection will be from 2.30pm, followed by prize‑giving at 4.30pm.
Masters’ division
The Masters’ Division begins at 2.30pm, with the following categories:
- Open / Women’s / Mixed
- 8o, 4+, 4-, 4x+, 4x-
- Explore Mixed 4x+
More than just racing
The regatta is hosted at Molesey Boat Club, where spectators can enjoy a warm welcome throughout the day, including:
- Bar and café
- Teas, cakes and sandwiches
It’s a great opportunity for residents to support local sport, enjoy the riverside setting and soak up the atmosphere of a traditional Thames rowing event.
