Planning Application Refused – Esso Petrol Station, Hurst Road

Esso petrol station on Hurst Road, West Molesey, where Elmbridge Borough Council refused planning permission for a new digital advertising sign in October 2025.

Good news for local residents — the planning application (Ref: 2025/2171) submitted by the Esso Petrol Station at 195 Hurst Road, West Molesey (KT8 1SE) has been refused by Elmbridge Borough Council.

Proposal: Advertisement consent for one internally illuminated digital freestanding single-sided display sign.

Decision: Refused Advertisement Consent
Decision date: 21 October 2025
Ward: Molesey East

This decision will come as a relief to many local residents, especially those in Linkfield, whose homes face the petrol station and would have been directly affected by the illuminated digital signage.

We thank everyone who took the time to review and comment on the application — your engagement helps protect the character and quality of life in Hurst Park and West Molesey.
