Chairman’s Report

Autumn view of Hurst Park's protected green space with mature trees displaying golden foliage, a walking path, and open grass areas with bench installations, highlighting the natural areas HPRA works to preserve

The sale of our green spaces in the Hurst Park Estate has been of particular concern in 2024 – 25. Auction details seem to indicate the possibility of houses being permitted on these spaces. However, with continued vigilance by the HPRA and others on the estate, we endeavour to organise and prevent any of these proposed developments on our precious greens. Both the following may be activated in our pursuits:

1. TPO (Tree Preservation Order) can be requested from either Surrey County Council or Elmbridge Borough Council, depending on where the trees are located.

2. ACV (Asset of Community Value). An ACV nomination is a delaying tool to allow a valid community group time to gather funds to make an offer to buy a “Community ” asset.
On a lighter side, we ran some very successful events over the year, with more events planned for this coming year.

We would truly benefit from fresh perspectives and new energy on our committee. If you feel inspired, we warmly invite you to step out, join
us, and become part of our efforts to safeguard and enhance Hurst Park.
Your involvement could make a meaningful difference—let’s work together to protect our community!
